Kind of smooth input

This isnt the best way to do this, but its my first idea. It can be done better with lua, which I wish I could read. In fact, while im at it, can somebody do a lua syntax/grammar tutorial? I know the basics from BASIC, I used to write it back in high school. It would be great.
