Lua Help please (Helped)

Ok so I kinda know what I'm doing with scripting. I'm pretty comfortable with basic stuff and I've been reading tutorials and poking through others' levels...but I can't figure out how to do anything with manipulating the motion of entities. And besides very basic ones, I'm not sure how functions work or what to put inside them or in the arguements.
